We Dig TV

Thursday, March 15, 2007

We Dig TV is new website that features a number of Flash conversions of a number of popular TV game shows. The game shows currently featured are Blockbusters, Countdown, Family Fortunes and Catchphrase.

Each of the game shows uses actual footage from the original British TV shows which makes for a pretty immersive experience. However the big problem with all of the games is the in game TV style adverts. When I played the Countdown game the length of the adverts actually exceeded the length of actual game time.

So whilst these games are very technically impressive I won't be playing again unless the adverts are taken out.

I agree that the site offers a great game environment, with the p.o.v video footage, you do feel like a contestant on the real show. The ads are pretty short (10 sec) and didn't really impact on my game experience. I'd definitely play again, especially as it looks like they're adding Bullseye at the end of this week.

I loved this site, the game's authenticity really took me back. I especially appreciated the fact they took the time to get the opening sequences spot on. I have to say, just hearing that opening music to Blockbusters and I'm straight back to the 80's.
I agree with Miss Gamer, the ads aren't a problem, and it isn't like you just watch them, they're mini-games in themselves.
I was hooked and will keep playing. I hope they produce a few more shows too.

When the games load up, you can choose the "pay" option to get the ad-free version. They offer cash prizes to top players.

This looks like an old entry, but I thought I'd add my two cents. I really "dig" We Dig Tv, despite the ads. In an ideal world, there'd be no ads, but then in an ideal world I'd also be married to Bill Gates...
As for the site, it offers a great combination of viewing and interaction that I've seen to date. They've clearly put a lot of time into planning really engaging game experiences, their Deal or No Deal beats the interactive DVD hands down. I also really like the new look, the presenters are a nice touch. It's starting to look more like it's own TV channel than a game site at all.
